SmugMug Facebook contest.

SmugMug has launched a pretty radical Facebook contest, partnering with Gura Gear and world-class safari photographer Andy Biggs to give away some sweet photo gear. I collaborated with SmugMug to create their sweepstakes campaign and felt extremely lucky to be able to work with such amazing photos (a rarity, I assure you!).

Here's a peek at the campaign I designed, featuring Andy's stunning photography. My favorite? The giraffes!

Check out the real, live contest here.

Claire + Tim's keepsake wedding book.

Back in September I had the pleasure of working with Claire, a bride from Bermuda who asked me to design a keepsake program for her wedding. She and her fiance had an amazing day planned, and wanted to create a pocket-sized book to capture and preserve the event, the story of their families, and local Bermudian history.

Using vintage family photographs and illustrations of Bermudian flora, Cardinals and butterflies, I designed the booklet as part-program, part-memento. Claire had the books printed locally and incorporated custom stamps with mini muslin bags to complete the package. I received a sample in the mail yesterday and couldn't be more happy with how they turned out!

Valentine's Day cards.

Valentine's Day is creeping up, and I've got you covered! Here are two new Jody Wody additions to Minted's line of adorable Classroom Valentines. These teeny-tiny cards were designed to incorporate a touch of DIY – you can affix a matching bow to Prize Ribbon via two strategically placed punch holes, and I'm a Sucker includes the perfect spot to attach a yummy lollipop.

Remember, you don't have to be a kid to hand these out. Think of how many new friends you'll make by handing out Sucker cards at the grocery store.

826 Valencia Annual Report.

Hey, look! It's the first ever 826 Valencia Annual Report! I spent the last couple months of 2011 with the friendly folks at 826, hashing out a plan to publish an annual report that people would actually want to read. I designed the self-mailer annual to resemble a trusty ol' composition book, with fun diagrams, an illustrated gate-fold timeline, scrapbook-y photos, and fantastic illustrations by Anna Kwon.

Vivian and Dan's tea towel save the date.

My friends Vivian and Dan are tying the knot on Cinco de Mayo this year and sent out these screen printed tea towels for their save the dates. Cute, huh?

Vivian, a fellow designer, laid out the type, bought tea towels from Ikea, and had them printed here in SF at Babylon Burning. Form plus function, FTW!

Jody Wody holiday card.

Show and Tell! Here are the holiday cards I sent out to clients this year. This season was a doozy and I didn't have the spare time to create anything from scratch, so I used one of my Jody Wody designs for Minted, "Antique Typography". To spice things up, I bought dozens of Tattly temporary tattoos, slipped them into tiny silver coin envelopes, and sealed them inside the folded card!

I included my favorite design-themed Tattly tattoos, including: Love Your WorkTattone,  Type Nerd and Crops.

Apparently someone at USPS wanted to get their hands on a tattoo so badly, they took a bite out of the envelope! Check out this one card that was returned to me...

City Place logo and branding.

I worked with Lewis & Partners to create the logo and branding for City Place Midtown, a community of 185 luxury apartments located in Midtown Houston. Last time I visited Houston, I made sure to drive by City Place and take some photos of their signage featuring the logo I created.

Above are designs for the 10-foot by 40-foot fence banners created to wrap around the perimeter of the property during the construction phase. City Place also requested a "design-y" way to display their apartment numbers, so I came up with three patterned variations which could easily be interchanged.

Storybook featured in Whim Events editorial shoot.

Take a peek at these gorgeous photos by Summer Street Photography! I was pretty pumped when they chose to feature my Storybook wedding invitation suite as part of the editorial shoot for Whim Events. I think the design fits perfectly with the dreamy "secret garden" theme; the antique hardcover books, dainty china, royal purple flowers and vines create the uber-romantic vibe I envisioned while designing the invitations.

Happily Ever After and Who Dat!

In the interest of taking a break from holiday designs, I thought I'd share some recent work. This post-wedding party invitation was a fun project I worked on with a New Orleans-based client who'd planned a unique way to unwind after her big day. She approached me with an interesting task: to come up with a hip, non-cheesy design combining Saints football and marriage. I was "game" (pun intended), and whipped up this invitation suite combining bold type, simple illustrations, and of course, plenty of fleur de lis. Geaux Saints!
